UFV Alumni Online Book Club – Frequently Asked Questions

How often will books be read, what is the time commitment and what are the expectations?

We plan to start the book club by reading one book every two months. The genre of books selected will be contemporary Canadian, mystery/suspense, non-fiction, comedy/light-hearted read and dystopian fiction and take an average of nine hours to read cover to cover. If you have between 1 and 2 hours a week to read you should be fine.

Will there be any in-person meetings of the book club?

Group discussions will be online. You can participate anywhere you have Internet access and on days and times that are convenient to you.

Is there any cost to participate?

Group discussions will be online. You can participate anywhere you have Internet access and on days and times that are convenient to you.

How do I get the books?

Participants can get books for free at their local library or purchase them at their local books stores or online.

How do book club virtual meetings work?

The book club will meet via Zoom at the mid-point and the end of each reading period.   The facilitator will start each meeting with a few questions to encourage conversation about the book or topics in the book.

How do I join the club?

  1. Join the UFV Connect, your platform to expanding your personal and professional network within the UFV alumni community.
