CHILLIWACK – Eighty-eight enthusiastic golfers of all backgrounds and abilities chipped in to raise over $15,000 at the second annual UFV Alumni Open at Chilliwack Golf Club on Sept. 16 (see photos from the event here).

Featuring fundraising opportunities, food and fun activities throughout the course, the annual event brought together a wide variety of alumni, community partners, student volunteers, and faculty and staff. As predicted by UFV Alumni Association Board Chair Nik Venema, the tournament’s early success last year has made it a signature annual event for UFV supporters and friends. “The UFV Alumni Open has become an annual tradition of connection and generosity,” Venema said. “A great day on the (golf) green reconnecting with old friends and making new ones while raising over $15,000 for UFV students in need made the day a win for everyone,” Venema said.Funds raised support the UFV Alumni Changing Lives Bursary Endowment, which will go towards establishing an endowed student award for students in need of financial support for their education. The interest earned from this endowment will be given out as a bursary award each year, which will continue in perpetuity. This is a gift that will have a significant impact on the future of many UFV students to come.
