Your experience matters, and your voice can make a real difference at UFV. We invite you to bring your perspective and passion to the UFV Alumni Association Board of Directors.
As the guiding body for your Alumni Association, the Board helps us achieve our core mission:
- Strengthening connections between all alumni through valuable benefits, programs, and services.
- Engaging current students to foster a lifelong UFV relationship through initiatives and campus events.
- Boosting awareness and support for the University through community involvement, volunteerism, and philanthropy.
We’re looking for enthusiastic UFV alumni like you to help us advance this mission by filling upcoming volunteer positions on our Board and its committees.
What’s Involved?
As a Board member, you will serve two-year terms, contributing to our strategic direction and directly supporting the goals outlined above. You’ll collaborate on committees, represent the Association at community and university events, and help shape the alumni experience. The board meets every other month between September to May.
Meetings offer flexibility: join us in person on the Abbotsford campus or connect online via our hybrid format.
Board Committees: Where You Can Focus Your Impact
Much of the Board’s focused work happens in our committees. As a Board member, you’ll lend your expertise and passion to one or more:
- Executive Committee: Guides the Association’s operational and financial health, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Provides leadership in planning, budgeting, and meeting management.
- Governance Committee: Ensures the Association runs smoothly and fairly. Focuses on our structure, governing documents (like bylaws and policies), and oversees the nomination and appointment processes for the board and key representative roles (including positions on the UFV Board of Governors and Senate).
- Awards Committee: Celebrates achievements within our UFV community. Oversees alumni awards programs – from setting criteria and reviewing nominations to recommending recipients and exploring new ways to recognize excellence.
- Advocacy Committee: Acts as the collective voice for UFV alumni. Identifies important issues affecting alumni and the university, develops advocacy strategies, and collaborates with university partners, community leaders, and government members to champion alumni interests.

- Include Your Resume: Attach your most recent resume (PDF). We encourage individuals with all levels of experience to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates who are genuinely motivated to provide sustained service to the UFV Alumni Association.
Please note that nominees for the UFV Alumni Association Board of Directors must be alumni of the University of the Fraser Valley as defined in the UFV Alumni Association Bylaws.
