Alumni Association seeking nominations for board of directors
FRASER VALLEY – Are you a UFV alumnus who’d like to stay involved with your university while making valuable connections with other alumni and contributing to your community?
Then consider volunteering to assist future alumni while gaining experience in networking, governance, leadership, and communication, by allowing your name to stand for election to the University of the Fraser Valley Alumni Association board of directors.
“UFV has given so much to me while I was attending as a student, as well as during my time serving on the Alumni Association board. The relationships that I’ve developed and the opportunities I’ve had at UFV have shaped the person I am today,” says governance committee Chair Wayne Ortner, who graduated from UFV in 2012 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. “Being involved with the UFV Alumni Association is a chance to give back to our current and future UFV Alum”, he adds.
UFV’s Alumni Association started fostering lifelong relationships between alumni and the University of the Fraser Valley in 2001 — and has grown steadily since. A two-year volunteer term on the board allows UFV alumni to contribute to their alma mater in meaningful and rewarding ways, while taking advantage of opportunities to professionally network and enhance their record of community involvement.
The UFV Alumni Association Board of Directors consists of a diverse group of volunteer alumni members. Board members serve voluntary two-year terms. They provide strategic vision, participate on committees, and act as ambassadors to the Association at university and community events. The board meets regularly throughout the year with assistance from the Alumni Relations office at UFV.
Some of the exciting opportunities for board members include the development and support of several initiatives, including:
- Collaborating with departments, faculties, schools and colleges to engage their alumni.
- Creating opportunities for alumni, through both personal and professional development.
- UFV Alumni Open Golf Tournament.
- Partnering with student groups at UFV to engage future alumni.
- Recognizing Distinguished Alumni of UFV.
“The UFV Alumni Board is a diverse group of talented individuals that are committed to empowering our UFV Alumni family,” adds Ortner.
