Distinguished Alumni Award winners for 2014

Patti MacAhonic and Tanya Jonker honoured

CHILLIWACK – UFV alumni Patti MacAhonic and Tanya Jonker are this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award winners. UFV Alumni Association chair Justin P. Goodrich bestowed the awards at UFV’s Giving Thanks donor and alumni appreciation event at the Chilliwack campus, Canada Education Park on Oct. 8.

Patti MacAhonic’s life has taken some unexpected turns. Married young and widowed young, she was inspired into activism by injustices she encountered after her husband’s death following a severe workplace injury.

MacAhonic (BA Ad Ed ’02) is currently executive director at Ann Davis Transition Society in Chilliwack.

Tanya Jonker
UFV Young Distinguished Alumni 2014

Tanya Jonker will never forget her years at the University of the Fraser Valley. They helped launch her into an exciting academic career researching the mechanisms of memory retrieval.

Now a PhD candidate at the University of Waterloo, Jonker graduated from UFV in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
