A night of meaningful connection
On May 29, the UFV Alumni Association (UFVAA) held its Annual General Meeting in Evered Hall on the Abbotsford campus. The program welcomed all alumni to celebrate the UFVAA’s achievements over the past year.
“UFV alumni are everywhere, and they bring extraordinary energy and expertise to the task of transforming their communities,” said UFV Alumni Association Board Chair Tony Dhaliwal (BA ’12). “As the Association works to celebrate and recognize UFV’s alumni, we see that they are woven into the fabric of our communities.”
Tony Dhaliwal continues his commitment as Chair of the UFVAA board and officially welcomed Bradley Menard (BGS ’14, BAAE ’21) as Vice-Chair. Tricia Taylor (AA ’09, BA ’10) continues to serve as Associate Vice-Chair.
The UFVAA board offered a heartfelt farewell to two prominent and valued members of the Board of Directors, recognizing their contributions and thanking them for their service.
Jennifer Trithardt-Tufts (BBA ’17) served on the Board of Directors for three years and was appointed Associate Vice-Chair last year, while Vladislav Gavrilov (BBA ’23) stepped down from his role as director after one year.
It was announced that the Alumni Engagement team is expanding with the addition of a Manager of Alumni Engagement. “This investment will allow us to further foster lifelong relationships between UFV and its alumni,” said Tony.
The UFVAA adopted an updated constitution and bylaws at the meeting. The alumni community contributed meaningful discussion and valuable feedback.
Following the business meeting, the UFVAA hosted a networking reception where attendees gathered and mingled over food and drink; this year, we were pleased to welcome back singer/songwriter Cambree Lovesy (BA ’21) to perform during the reception.
Attendees also participated in the selection for the UFV 50th Anniversary edition of the alumni wine. A wine tasting, led by partner Chaberton Estate Winery, allowed alumni to choose their preferred varieties via mobile voting. Alumni are encouraged to sign up for the Alumni Wine VIP waitlist to learn when this year’s wine will become available. The Alumni Wine program proceeds support students by providing bursary funds to students with financial need.
