Every year, the Alumni Association recognizes the achievements of UFV alumni, highlighting the amazing work they are doing through the Distinguished and Young Distinguished Alumni awards.

And now a new award has been announced.

On November 10^th, 2022, the University of the Fraser Valley enjoyed the return of the Town & Gown  – a celebration demonstrating the transformational power of a UFV education.

During Town & Gown, the UFV Alumni Association honours two alumni with the Distinguished and Young Distinguished Alumni awards. These awards, which have been a great source of pride for the Alumni Association, allow the community to celebrate the careers and impacts of UFV graduates.

This year, the UFV Alumni Association announced an exciting new award aimed at honouring current UFV student leaders.

The Outstanding Student Leader Award seeks to celebrate the hard work of UFV’s students before they graduate. Many alumni spent their time at UFV in leadership roles, and their impact on the community is long standing. The UFV Alumni Association is excited to support current students who share these qualities and are already making impressive contributions to the community.

“The UFV Alumni Association seeks to recognize and engage with student leaders who go above and beyond the typical expectation on campus,” Derrick Uittenbosch, Chair of the Alumni Association stated, “As leaders, their accomplishments will serve as an example to the student body, the UFV community, and all those who follow the award recipient.”

This new Leadership award was established by one of the Alumni Association’s Chair Emeriti, whose vision for this student award was years in the making. With additional funds from other alumni, the Alumni Association, as well as his own investment, this award is set to be able to assist students with a $1000 grant to support their educational goals while they continue to lead their peers.

Our student leaders are already in the process of transforming the world around them, and this award will help ensure they become our Distinguished and Young Distinguished alumni of the future.

Applications are now open on the UFV Alumni website and will be kept open year-round. We encourage all Faculty, Staff, alumni and community members to nominate a deserving student leader for this award to help them achieve their goals, transform their communities, and continue to change the world with their vision.
