University of the Fraser Valley Alumni Association Unveils 2025 Alumni Wine Labels Featuring Indigenous Artist Rebekah Brackett
Abbotsford, BC – In celebration of the 20th anniversary of its Alumni Wine program, the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV)Alumni Association proudly announces the release of its 2025 Alumni Wine, a collaboration with Chaberton Estate Winery This annual initiative supports student bursaries while celebrating the artistic talents of UFV alumni.
This year’s wine labels showcase the artwork of Rebekah Brackett, a UFV Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from 2011 and a member of the Piikani First Nation (Aapátohsipikáni). Brackett’s pieces, Morning Bull and Owl, honour her Piikani heritage and her late sister through art. Beyond her artistic endeavours, Brackett contributes to the community as a counsellor and serves on the Board of Directors for the Abbotsford Arts Council.
“Art builds bridges,” she says. “It helps people speak without words.”
The 2025 Alumni Wine features two distinguished selections from Chaberton Estate Winery:
- 2022 Chaberton Vintage One (CVO): A red blend with notes of dark fruit and berry pie, balanced by medium acidity and aging potential of 6–8 years.
- 2024 Estate Grown Bacchus: An off-dry white wine grown in the Fraser Valley, offering a perfumed nose with notes of ripe peach and pear, and a fresh flavour finishing with key lime on the palate.
Since its inception in 2005, the UFV Alumni Wine program has partnered with local wineries to produce annual wine selections, with proceeds supporting student bursaries.
Wine enthusiasts and supporters can purchase the 2025 Alumni Wine in six-bottle allotments, choosing between six bottles of Bacchus, six bottles of CVO, or a mixed case of three bottles each. Orders can be placed online through Chaberton Estate Winery’s website.
