UFV Alumni Association marks milestones and looks ahead at 2026 AGM

Fraser Valley, BC — On May 26, the UFV Alumni Association (UFVAA) held its Annual General Meeting in the new J Building conference space on the Abbotsford campus, a fitting venue for an association that continues to grow alongside the university it calls home.

The program welcomed alumni, UFVAA board members, and UFV leadership to reflect on the past year’s achievements and look ahead to the road in front of them.

“Service and volunteerism are the defining values of this board,” said UFVAA Board Chair Bradley Menard (BGS ’14, BAAE ’21). “I’m incredibly grateful to our volunteer Directors; the successes we’ve shared this year are a direct result of the leadership they bring to our community.”

The meeting also marked a meaningful moment of transition. The UFVAA board offered a warm and heartfelt farewell to Alex Parkinson (JD, BA (Hist.) ’18), Associate Vice-Chair. Alex’s legal acumen and steady hand in governance helped lay a more resilient foundation for every board that follows. His years of service leave a mark that will be felt long after the meeting minutes are filed.

Following the formal business of the meeting, attendees were treated to a guided tour of Lá:léms Ye EverGreen, UFV’s new student housing building on the Abbotsford campus. The tour was hosted by UFV alum and Director of Student Housing, Nathan Speedie. Alumni and guests got an up-close look at the modern suites, community kitchens, lounges, and cultural spaces that define this new chapter in student life at UFV.

The evening closed with a light reception and meaningful conversations that remind you why these gatherings matter.
